JOHN SEIBEL

John Seibel (born 1970) is an American journalist who has worked for ESPN since Fall 2000. He is currently the host of the ESPN Radio show SportsNation. He is one of the most versatile sportscasters for the network, as he contributes to both ESPN Radio and ESPNEWS. On Sundays since 2006 he has hosted The NFL on ESPN Radio Sundays during the NFL regular season. On the television side, he hosts ESPNEWS once or twice a week and also fills in on The Pulse on Saturday afternoons. He is known for his touch of humor to the lead stories of the day and his entertaining interviews with newsmakers. His catchphrase is "Welcome to the Machine".


Prior to joining ESPN, Seibel worked at two different local news networks, KIMO-TV in Alaska and KQTV in St. Joseph, Missouri. While at KIMO-TV, he earned numerous awards, including: Alaska Sports Anchor of the Year in 1997, Alaska Broadcasters Association Best Play-by-Play 1998-2000, Best Live Sports Event 1998-2000 and Best Entertainment Program in 2000.


He is a 1997 graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism. Before attending college, he served in the United States Air Force as a communications specialist from 1989-1994. Seibel is married and his wife also works for ESPN.


John also spent a short time performing transportable uplink transmissions while working for Vision Accomplished Inc.islands
