Ladies and Gentlemen, the Stanley Cup!" Those words will live forever in the hearts of Rangers fans when the Broadway Blueshirts won the Stanley Cup in 1994. The person bellowing those words over the Madison Square Garden public address? Bob Galerstein.
Bob is an original 1050 ESPN New York anchor, starting when the station began in 2001. He did shows with Warner Wolf on Saturdays and anchored during the Mike and Mike Show. Now Bob tries to elbow his way into the Max Kellerman show with a syllable here and there while anchoring the New York SportsCenters. Bob can also be heard filling in as host of the Rangers pre and postgame and also produces and does the play-by-play of the 1050 ESPNRadio.com high school football and basketball game of the week. He'll also fill in with the Devils public address announcing and will start his eleventh season on the PA at Giants Stadium for Major League Soccer's Red Bulls.
Bob is also an anchor for the three ABC Sports Radio networks.
Bob initially angered his friends who follow the Rangers when he was part of the Islanders radio crew from 1987 to 93, then alienated his Islanders friends when he switched to the Rangers just before that magical 93-94 campaign. Both groups were beside themselves when he was the Devils regular public address announcer from 2005 - 07. However, all were initially looking at the New York City native with scorn when he was the Philadelphia Flyers TV play-by-play announcer in the mid-80's. Bob also filled in on radio play-by-play for the Tampa Bay Lightning and Colorado Rockies.
This Syosset High School grad was with the Phoenix Communications Group from 1985 through 1998 as a producer, writer and host for over 200 TV shows, including "Hockey Week," ESPN NHL International," "ESPN Major League Baseball International" and "This Week In Baseball." Bob also voiced numerous commercials and industrial productions for MLB and the NHL.
He previously did the TV and radio play-by-play for two championship hockey teams before he graduated from Ohio University.
